Sentry webhook
Issue alerts and metric alerts from Sentry on your phone.
Setup
- In Sentry open Settings, then Developer Settings, and create a new Internal Integration.
- In PingLoom open Webhooks, choose New webhook source, pick Sentry, paste the integration's Client Secret, choose the events and create it. Copy the endpoint URL.
- Paste the PingLoom URL as the Webhook URL of the Sentry integration, turn on Alert Rule Action, and give it Read access to Issue & Event if you want issue alerts.
- In an Sentry alert rule add the action Send a notification via your integration, then save. Metric alerts use the same integration.
- Trigger a test from the alert rule. The request appears under Recent requests on the PingLoom source page.
Verification
Sentry signs the raw request body with HMAC-SHA256 and your integration's Client Secret, and sends the hex digest in the Sentry-Hook-Signature header. Sentry documents no signed timestamp, so PingLoom uses the Request-ID header to drop repeats.
Events
You choose which events become alerts when you create the source, and you can change it later on the source page.
| Event | Priority | On by default |
|---|---|---|
| Issue alerts | high | Yes |
| Metric alerts (critical and warning) | high | Yes |
| Metric alerts resolved | low | No |
Issue alert priority follows the Sentry level: fatal and error are high, warning is normal, anything else is low. Only Sentry links (sentry.io) become the alert link.
