Home Assistant webhook
Alerts from any Home Assistant automation: doors, leaks, power cuts, finished cycles.
Setup
- In PingLoom open Webhooks, choose New webhook source, pick Home Assistant and create it. Copy the endpoint URL.
- Put the URL in Home Assistant's secrets.yaml as pingloom_url, then add a rest_command named pingloom_alert in configuration.yaml with url: !secret pingloom_url, method: post, content_type: application/json and a JSON payload that templates title, message, priority, entity_id and a unique id such as {{ now().timestamp() }}.
- Call rest_command.pingloom_alert from any automation action, passing title and message (and priority low, normal or high).
- Run the automation. The request appears under Recent requests on the PingLoom source page.
Verification
Home Assistant cannot sign its requests, so the PingLoom endpoint URL is the only secret. Keep it private (store it in Home Assistant's secrets.yaml) and delete the source and create a new one if it leaks.
Careful: Home Assistant cannot sign its requests. The endpoint URL is the only secret, so keep it private and replace the source if it leaks.
Events
You choose which events become alerts when you create the source, and you can change it later on the source page.
| Event | Priority | On by default |
|---|
Suggested fields: title (required, 120 characters), message, priority (low, normal or high), entity_id, state, area and id. The id should be unique per automation run so PingLoom can drop repeats. Other fields are ignored.
This template has no event list: every request with a title becomes an alert, so put the condition in the automation.
