Prometheus Alertmanager webhook

Firing and resolved alert groups from an Alertmanager webhook receiver.

Setup

  1. In PingLoom open Webhooks, choose New webhook source, pick Prometheus Alertmanager and create it. Copy the endpoint URL.
  2. Add a receiver to alertmanager.yml with webhook_configs and the endpoint URL as url (Alertmanager treats url as a secret). Keep send_resolved at its default of true.
  3. Route the alerts you care about to that receiver and reload Alertmanager.

Verification

Alertmanager cannot sign requests. The endpoint URL is the only secret, so anyone who has it can send alerts to this source. Keep it private and create a new source if it leaks. There is nothing to rotate.

You choose which events become alerts when you create the source, and you can change it later on the source page.
